PGL DAY 1 / DIWRNOD 1

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been busy in the garden weeding, planting and watering our pots and beds. We are all looking forward to seeing our broad beans, poppies, sweet peas and nasturtium grow! 

Dosbarth Miss Powell had another brilliant session with Mr Burrows from John Beddoes Campus – Newtown High School. This week learners played various instruments such as drums, shakers, keyboards and ukuleles. We learned about the term ”ostinato” and developed our performance and listening skills. Diolch yn fawr eto Mr Burrows.

Dosbarth Miss Powell dissected daffodils, as part of exploring the different parts and functions of a flowering plant.

Gail and Jane from CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), as well as Kirsty Williams, the Vice Chief Executive of Powys Teaching Health Board, visited us! Learners explored the term ”worry” and strategies to help us manage our emotions, and feelings of worry.

Dosbarth Miss Powell had a fantastic first, Expressive Arts lesson with Mr Burrows from John Beddoes Campus – Newtown High School! We were introduced to the term, programmatic music and explored mood/feeling. Diolch yn fawr iawn i Mr Burrows for his enthusiasm, and visiting us this term.

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been learning about living and non-living things and had fun on a welly walk this week searching for these around the village. We found lots of living things, such as the trees, flowers and animals, and lots of non-living things like bins, cars and houses. Great searching everyone! 

Dosbarth Miss Powell have had a creative morning, stick weaving! It was a fantastic experience and learners have all created either a caterpillar, or a snake to take home.. Beware!

Wow! Dosbarth Miss Powell would love to start every week with Mid Wales Opera. Learners composed and sang different recitatives, we also learned an aria from ‘The Bird Catcher’s Song from The Magic Flute by Mozart.
