Exciting electricity!

As part of our learning, Dosbarth Miss Powell investigated conductors and insulators of electricity. There was some excellent scientific discussion on the types of materials that conduct electricity and the use of conductors and insulators in real-life contexts.

WW2 Cooking

Dosbarth Mrs Curtis and dosbarth Miss Powell are investigating how recipes had to be re-invented during World War 2, due to food shortages and rationing. Both classes discussed what types of food you could grow in your garden that could be added to cakes, instead of other hard to get ingredients. We decided that if you could put carrots in a cake, then maybe you could use other vegetables too.

This week we have made beetroot chocolate cake.

We were all a bit put off by the thought of beetroot in cakes. However once we tasted them, we discovered they were delicious!

We have all made a WW2 recipe book that we will add a new recipe to each week.

I wonder what next weeks recipe will be?

Electricity

As part of our topic, Incredible Inventions, we are exploring electricity. Today, we discussed with Amanda the electric meter and her role in monitoring our electricity in school. We then created a simple circuit!

Learners leading the learning

This term, Dosbarth Mrs Curtis and Dosbarth Miss Powell have been focusing on ball skills in Health and Wellbeing. To conclude our learning, volunteers from both classes set up and led various football drills to develop core skills such as dribbling, passing, scoring and defending. We are looking forward to next week with different leaders!

Here are the leaders of this week in action…
