Responsibility

This week in our Health and Well-being sessions, Reception learners have been exploring the concept of responsibility. Through a practical activity with ‘Jigsaw Jenie,’ the learners have taken responsibility for planting and growing cress. Everyone has worked hard to ensure the cress receives everything it needs to grow healthily.

Self Portraits

Learners from Reception to Year Two have been learning about self-portraits in their Expressive Arts lessons. Some learners experimented with different media and chose the one they felt worked best to create their self-portrait, while others learnt new sketching techniques. All the learners demonstrated impressive attention to detail, carefully considering colour, shape, and size in their artwork.

Patterns

Some of our younger learners have been busy exploring pattern in their Mathematics and Numeracy lessons. They have engaged in a range of experiences, including creating patterns with music, natural materials, body movements, and concrete resources.

Coding

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been having fun with the Bee-Bots, Sphero’s and coding on the computer this week. Some learners had to direct the Bee-Bot to order the planets while avoiding the aliens along the way. Another group had to direct the Sphero with control through a maze to order the planets, and other learners had to program the rocket on the computer to reach each planet. The learners showed excellent perseverance, concentration and determination throughout. Well done Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne!

Second Hand Clothes Sale

We would like to say a big thank you to all those who donated clothes to our second-hand clothing sale as well as to those who came along on Wednesday. The learners are very pleased to announce that a total of £104.10 was made. The left over clothing has been bagged up ready for ‘Dragon Bags’ to collect next Wednesday which will raise additional money for the school.

A special well done and thank you to the learners in Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne and to the Eco-Committee for organising and running this event; all learners worked particularly hard. It was great to see the learners in Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne using their money skills learnt in lessons recently to count totals and give change when serving their customers. The learners in Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne and the Eco-Committee plan to use the money raised to develop our Forest School area.

We hope you enjoy your new clothing and thank you for helping us protect our environment by recycling!

Eco - Poster Competition

We are very proud of all our learners who entered the Eco-Committee’s poster competition to advertise our second-hand clothing sale. All posters were excellent and the learners were very creative in the way they designed these. Thank you to all those who entered and a big well done! The Eco-Committee have now displayed the posters around our school site and in Esco’s. Don’t forget to note the date and time in your diary!

Dynamics

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been exploring dynamics within their Expressive Arts lessons this week. The learners listened to and discussed the dynamics in some space music and explored dynamics using the instruments.

Sinfonia Cymru

What a great morning watching Sinfonia Cymru perform. Learners were excellent in describing the images that came to their mind when listening to the music and how it made them feel. They also answered and asked some great questions throughout. We would like to say a big thank you to Sinfonia Cymru for performing to us today!

Peter Thorpe Space Artwork

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been learning about Peter Thorpe and his space artwork. The learners experimented with using different techniques and textures to see which they liked best for the background and then explored which colours they thought went well together. They carefully designed their own rocket, thinking about what colours would go best with their background. Everyone worked very hard and have created wonderful pieces of artwork!

Madley Environmental Centre Trip

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne had a great trip to Madley Environmental Centre yesterday. The learners engaged in various space activities, such as a satellite tour, making rockets, and creating their very own aliens using natural materials. The learners also had to use their problem-solving skills and team work to create the solar system where they had to plot the planets using a given distance sheet.
