Tom Moorhouse

Dosbarth Miss Powell had a brilliant morning yesterday. As our class text, we are reading ”The River Singers” by Tom Moorhouse. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to ask the author questions that we had.

He left us with some great advice for our future careers,

”Do what you love!”.

Banking Process

Over the last week we have been looking at making profit and then the banking process after. The learners in Dosbarth Mrs Smith worked out the profit from each bottle of apple juice and then used their multiplication skills to work out the total profit. We then counted the money we raised on all the stalls last Friday and looked at how we would bank this money. To deepen our understanding Mrs Dinsdale talked us through this process.

Big Count Up

Dosbarth Miss Powell were thrilled to count and calculate the profit that we made on our stall at the Christmas Fate! Some excellent discussions were had to consider our profit.

How much should we have been paid for our time?!

The River

Dosbarth Miss Powell have worked so hard to produce brilliant river themed poems based on ‘The River’ by Valerie Bloom. A superb use of metaphors, alliteration and rhyme! We then applied our watercolour techniques and created a river scene. Gwaith anhygoel pawb

Christmas Biscuits

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been busy baking and decorating some Christmas biscuits this week, as well as creating other Christmas crafts to sell at our Christmas Fair on Friday. The biscuits smell delicious… don’t forget to come along if you can!

Jam Making

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been busy making blackberry jam.. yum yum! We went on a welly walk to pick the blackberries and then froze these. Last week we worked together to make our jam using our mathematical skills to carefully measure out our ingredients, and our literacy skills to follow the recipe. This week we tasted it on some bread and it was delicious! We linked this to our Stone Age theme by discussing how berries were part of the Stone Age diet.

Football

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been learning football skills this week for the World Cup. We have learnt to pass, receive the ball, dribble and score a goal. We also watched part of the Wales vs Iran match, created a World Cup bookmark and came to school in red to support Wales.
