Swansea WW2 trip
Dosbarth Mrs Curtis had an early start on Thursday morning travelling in style, on a VIP bus to Swansea. First stop was the Dylan Thomas theatre to see the play, ‘Arandora Star’. Where we learnt all about Welsh/Italians living in south Wales during WW2 and how they were treated during this time. This was followed by a question and answer session with the cast.
After lunch we had a quick walk around the waterfront, before going to the Waterfront Museum to take part in a WW2 workshop.
Antarctic Explorers from the Past
We have been learning about Antarctic explorers from the past. We worked in groups to research information about these and shared what we found out with the class.
Trip to C.A.T
Dosbarth Miss Powell had a brilliant day yesterday at the Centre for Alternative Technology, as part of our topic, ‘Incredible Inventions’. We deepened our understanding of renewable energy sources and were able to see lots of real-life models. We also had a lot of fun in the workshop where we built and tested model wind turbines, we recorded our results from the voltmeter and then improved on our designs!
Terrific Tennis
We had a brilliant afternoon practising our skills, in our first tennis session! We were introduced to the ABC’s… Agility, balance and coordination.
We went to West Midlands Safari Park to help us with our topic ’Freezing Lands’. We saw lots of animals, including penguins, seals snd reindeers. We also had a tour around the Ice Age and learnt lots of interesting facts.
Welly Walk
Dosbarth Miss Powell and dosbarth Mrs Curtis went on a welly walk during their Health and Well-being session this week. We all enjoyed being able to get out and explore our local area.
We have been learning about climate change as part of our ‘Freezing Lands’ topic and carried out an ice experiment to explore this. We made predictions, observations and communicated our findings.
