This term dosbarth Miss Powell are reading “The Race to the Frozen North” by Catherine Johnson. We had another fantastic opportunity to meet the author and ask questions.

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been celebrating ‘Empathy Day’. The learners did a brilliant job of making their own empathy glasses to recognise empathy in various scenarios and to practise being empathetic themselves. We also listened to the story ‘My Beautiful Voice’ and discussed where empathy was shown in this. 

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been learning about time within our Mathematics and Numeracy lessons. The learners engaged well within a range of activities to help with their understanding of this.

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have had a lovely morning on our welly walk to Harley Valley where the learners did a great job of recording their river safety video. 

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been making the most of this wonderful sunshine with phonics outside and have been working hard to write the sounds they have been learning.  

Dosbarth Miss Powell and Dosbarth Mrs Smith had a fantastic day at the Hay Festival. We went to talks from Dr Ranj, Bear Grylls and Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock.

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been learning about why rivers are important and what we can do to protect them. The learners worked in groups to create posters on how to help save our rivers to share in an assembly with the rest of the school. Bendigedig Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne, you’ve highlighted some important actions we can take to help protect our rivers! 

On our welly walk this week, Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne visited Harley Valley to see the stream. We were lucky enough to have the sunshine, so we took our drink and snack! It was a lovely morning out with some great discussions about the stream. 

Dosbarth Miss Burgoyne have been learning about capacity in our Mathematics and Numeracy lessons this week and have carried out a range of activities to explore this. 

We had a fantastic afternoon at the Hub to watch Sinfonia Cymru perform. Learners were inspired by the talented musicians and had the opportunity to explore body percussion, ask questions and some even adopted the role as “conductor”. Diolch yn fawr iawn!
