Mathematics

Dosbarth Mrs Curtis have been working out how much carbon is absorbed by the trees in the school field.

First the children measured the circumference of a tree about 1.5m from the ground.

We then used information from ‘Just one tree’ to work out the trees dry weight value in kg.

The carbon stored in the tree is half the dry weight, after dividing the weight by two we had the amount of carbon absorbed by that tree.

Vegetables Boxes

Thank you to everyone that bought vegetable boxes from dosbarth Mrs Curtis and dosbarth Miss Powell. The children enjoyed pulling up all the vegetables and seeing how big they had grown.

The money from the sale of the boxes is going to be used to buy bulbs and other gardening items.

Vegetable Boxes

Dosbarth Mrs Curtis and dosbarth Miss Powell have grown vegetables over the summer and have made veggie boxes to sell, to raise money to invest in their garden area.

Each box includes carrots, parsnips and beetroots. Da iawn bawb.

Rainforest Art

Dosbarth Mrs Curtis and Dosbarth Miss Powell have been creating a rainforest in the classroom. The children researched animals that live in the Indonesian rainforest. They then decided on an animal that they wanted to draw and used oil pastels, to give them colour.

The animals will be added to our rainforest display in the classroom.

Welcome Back

Dosbarth Mrs Curtis introduced dosbarth Miss Powell to team building games. The aim is to get as much water from one bucket, across the playground into another bucket, using only sponges and two drainpipes.

All groups worked well in their teams, listening to each other and sharing roles.

Da iawn bawb!

Iogo Cymru

Dosbarth Mrs Curtis became health and well-being teachers this week. The class sorted themselves into small groups and each group picked a yoga position from the Welsh yoga board in the playground.

First task was to use the ipads to translate the instructions from Welsh to English.

Each group then learnt how to do their yoga position before teaching it to the rest of the class.

Wildlife Haven

Dosbarth Mrs Curtis have been busy this term making their outdoor area into a wildlife haven.

They have planted flowers and vegetables, made a bug hotel, provided water for hedgehogs and other animals, put out a bee water station, collected rain water for watering their plants and started a compost bin.

The bee’s have even started using our bee box and the children enjoyed having a closer look at the larvae.
